THE NEED-TO-KNOW STUFF
A little more about Darly, our toys and all the good stuff.
Who is Darly Play?
Darly Play is a Melbourne-based children’s toy and lifestyle brand with a soft spot for beautiful design and big imaginations. We curate thoughtfully made toys, playful pieces and little treasures for childhood. Think colour, creativity and things you’ll actually want to leave out in your living room.
What makes Darly Play different?
We believe children’s toys can be just as beautiful as the spaces they live in. Our collection brings together considered design, gorgeous colours and plenty of opportunities for imaginative play. No ugly. No batteries. No notes.
Is Darly Play an Australian business?
Very much so! Darly is a small, female-founded business based in Melbourne, Australia. Dreamed up by a mum of two (moi) who loves interiors almost as much as watching her girls play.
What kind of toys does Darly Play sell?
A little bit of everything lovely. From colourful wooden building blocks and gem-filled construction sets to imaginative play pieces, handmade treasures and children’s decor. Our collection is thoughtfully curated for little hands, curious minds and design-loving grown-ups.
What is open-ended play?
It’s play without a rulebook. No instructions, no right answers and no batteries telling little minds what to do next. Just imagination doing its thing. Our open-ended toys encourage children to build, create, experiment and dream up something entirely their own.
What age are Darly toys suitable for?
Our collection includes toys for different ages and stages, from babies discovering the world to bigger kids with even bigger imaginations. Each product listing includes a recommended age, so you can find something just right for your little person. Please note the recommended age is also based on safety, our toys can be played with for years beyond.
Are Darly toys safe for children?
Safety is a big deal around here. We carefully consider the materials, construction and age suitability of the toys we offer. There’s a lot that goes into this behind the scenes, and I’d never offer something I wouldn’t be 100% confident in my own children playing with. Always check the recommended age and safety information on each product page, particularly for toys containing small parts.
What materials are Darly toys made from?
We’re big fans of natural materials and beautiful finishes. You’ll find wooden toys made from materials such as beech, ash and birch, alongside colourful acrylic details, cotton and felt pieces. Specific materials are listed on each product page.
Does Darly Play sell wooden toys?
Absolutely. Wooden toys are a big part of our world. From colourful building blocks to imaginative construction sets, we love the way natural timber and playful colour work together. Classic materials, with a little Darly personality.
Are Darly toys Montessori-inspired?
Many of our toys complement Montessori-inspired and child-led play by encouraging independence, exploration and creativity. We’re not here to put labels on play, though. We just love giving kids beautiful things and seeing what their imaginations come up with.
Are Darly toys good for gifts?
We might be biased, but absolutely. Whether you’re shopping for a first birthday, a third birthday, Christmas or a just-because surprise, our collection is full of thoughtful gifts designed to be played with, loved and kept.
Where can I buy beautiful wooden toys in Australia?
Right here, darling. Darly Play is an Australian online store specialising in beautifully designed wooden toys, colourful building blocks, open-ended play and children’s decor. All thoughtfully curated with little people and lovely spaces in mind.
Does Darly Play offer children’s bedroom and playroom decor?
We certainly do. We believe the magic of childhood should look just as good as it feels. Alongside our toys, you’ll find playful decor and accessories designed to bring colour, character and a little joy to children’s spaces.
Does Darly Play ship across Australia?
Yes! We’re based in Melbourne and ship Australia-wide. Better yet, Australian orders over $200 receive free shipping.
Does Darly Play offer preorders?
Sometimes! For particularly special pieces, we open limited preorders so you can secure your favourites before they arrive. Estimated dispatch dates are provided when ordering. If your order includes both preorder and in-stock items, they’ll be shipped together once everything is ready.
How do I care for my Darly toys?
A little love goes a long way. For wooden toys, we recommend gently wiping with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allowing them to air dry. Avoid soaking, harsh cleaning products and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Always check individual product care instructions.
Where is Darly Play based?
We’re proudly based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Small business, big feelings about beautiful toys.
